Boardwalk Refurbishment
December 2024
A large refurbishment project for Wyndham City Council to breath new life into a pre-existing structure. The space held a generously sized structure, located within an expansive community greenspace in Point Cook- yet it held little play value for the scale of the space.
The aim for this project was to re-imagine what the space could be and to greatly increase play value to adequately satisfy to the volume of users the park receives. Extensive earthworks removed a large section of concrete pathway to allow for a fully accessible cantilever swing, as well as adjusting the size and footprint of the existing sand pit. New swing sets, junior springers and a wheelchair-accessible spinner all complete the space.
The boardwalk structure was stripped back to its skeleton and re-painted, timber ramps replaced with recycled plastic decking, railing clad with a mixture of steel bar and composite timber cladding and electrical work in the roofs re-wired.
A number of new play elements were also added to the strucutre, with railing cut out to make way for a large waterfall cargo net with commando tube and additional under deck rope nets. New interactive play panels were added along the boardwalk, new fireman’s pole and rock walls, as well as three new slides were all added also.
