LA Moon Reserve

June 2024

This project completed for the City of Moonee Valley presented the challenge of working on a steep slope. With the footprint of the playground pre-determined by existing edging, a new playground was to be designed to maximise the usability of the space and celebrate the view of the reserve overlooking the Maribyrnong River.

To accomodate a wide age-range of users, main access points to the unit’s platforms were limited to the top of the slope. This ensured that stairs and step panels made the junior slide accessible, whilst a climbing net intended for an older age demographic gave access to the larger tube slide. The direction of the slides and roofs on the unit encourge users to look out across the valley whilst interacting with the playground.
