Springvale Reserve

June 2024

A ‘Pocket park’ project for the City of Greater Dandenong. This playground as part of upgrades to Springvale Reserve, gave opportunity to create an inclusive space to cater to a wide age range of users.

By shrinking the footprint of the main tower, more space was allocated to a variety of smaller play stations, including a ropes course for senior users, a junior sensory-play cubby and two seperate springer pads. Softfall rubber pathways were implemented to provide accessiblity from the main oval’s carpark to two inclusive basket swings as well an all-abilities spinner. The location of pathways to divide the space into two pockets allows some of the established trees in the area to become part of the space- where their canopies and natural form can be utilised for shade and to soften the geometric concrete edging.
